
Meerut News: Meerut, 24 May. The state government has given big relief to the industries of Meerut, which are known throughout the country for manufacturing sports goods. This time, under the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme, a target of providing subsidy of Rs 14.5 crore has been set for the sports goods industry of the district. Along with old entrepreneurs, new businessmen will also get benefits through the scheme.
According to Industry Department officials, for the purpose of promoting Meerut’s sports industry, the government will provide 20 to 25 percent subsidy on loans. Subsidy will be up to 25 percent on small projects and 20 percent on big projects. Maximum assistance up to Rs 20 lakh will be provided. A target has been set to connect about 360 beneficiaries with the scheme in the current financial year.
Apply online to avail the benefits of the scheme
Deputy Commissioner Industries Amresh Kumar Pandey said that entrepreneurs wishing to take advantage of the scheme will have to apply online on the MSME website. After examining the application, the District Industries Center will send the proposal to the concerned banks. Entrepreneurs will also get the facility to take loan from the bank of their choice.
He said that the scheme will give a new direction to the sports industry of Meerut and new entrepreneurs will get an opportunity to start business. This will also increase employment opportunities at the local level.
According to officials, training facilities will also be provided to entrepreneurs under the scheme. Although the grant amount will be decided at the time of loan approval, beneficiaries will be able to withdraw it from their account only after two years. The department believes that this will enable the industries to continue operating in a better manner.
