Major League Baseball: America’s famous baseball league Major League Baseball has taken a big step towards its expansion in India. MLB has announced a new partnership with RISE Worldwide. Rise Worldwide is a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries. The main objective of this partnership is to popularize baseball in India and take the game to a new audience.

Baseball’s reach will increase in India

Both the companies together will run several major campaigns to promote baseball in India. Under this, focus will be on marketing, social media promotion and ground level activities. Apart from this, it has also been planned to organize a big live event in Mumbai in October 2026. The objective of this event is to connect the Indian audience with the thrill of baseball and to give a new identity to this game.

MLB has been active in India for many years

MLB has been working to promote baseball in India for the last several years. Since opening its office in New Delhi in 2019, the league has been continuously working to increase the identity of baseball among the Indian youth and sports fans. MLB started the “MLB First Pitch” program in schools, which taught children the basics of baseball. Apart from this, competitions like “MLB Cup” were also organized for the youth. To increase interest in baseball in India, MLB also telecasted its post-season matches to Indian audiences.

Interest increased due to ‘Indian Baseball Dreams’

MLB has also launched special India-focused programs such as “Indian Baseball Dreams.” These initiatives aim to connect Indian players and youth with baseball opportunities. Through these programs many young players have got the opportunity to showcase their talent at the international level. This has increased both awareness and interest in baseball in India.

Both companies expressed enthusiasm

Noah Garden, MLB’s deputy commissioner of business and media, called the partnership an important step in its international growth strategy. He said that by partnering with Rise Worldwide, MLB will be able to reach a larger audience in India and will also strengthen cultural ties through the game. Nikhil Bardiya, head of Rise Worldwide, said that India’s sports market is changing rapidly and this is the right time for a global sport like baseball. He said that the company is excited to give a new baseball experience to the Indian audience.

New initiatives will start at the grassroots level

Both the organizations will start many new programs in the coming times. Emphasis will be laid on promoting baseball especially at the youth and school level. After the World Baseball Classic held in March, MLB is now working on a strategy to rapidly expand this game in India also. It is believed that this partnership can give a new direction to the future of baseball in India.
