The team will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence on Wednesday, where they will be felicitated for the historic title win. India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday to lift the global title for the first time, marking a watershed moment for women’s cricket in the country.

On reaching New Delhi, the team was given a warm welcome at the airport. On this occasion, many players including Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav and Sneh Rana were seen dancing to the beats of the drum and expressing their happiness. After that, on reaching Taj Palace Hotel, the players and support staff were given a grand welcome. He was showered with rose petals as he entered the hotel, celebrating the team’s historic achievement. Earlier, the team members led by head coach Amol Majumdar were also given a warm welcome at the Mumbai airport, where a group of fans gathered to bid them farewell.

Arrival in Delhi under tight security cover

The team reached Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) from Mumbai in a special chartered flight (S5 8328) of Star Air. The general public was not allowed entry due to security protocols at the airport’s Special Aviation Terminal (GA), so only a group of journalists were present. Elaborate measures were taken for the security of the Indian team which reached Mahiva World Cup after its historic title win. Delhi Police personnel conducted strict checks on the team bus and surrounding routes and also conducted sniff tests with sniffer dogs to identify any potential threat. After reaching Delhi, the team left directly for the hotel.

Honor ceremony at Prime Minister’s residence

Let us tell you that all the members of the Indian team will leave for their respective cities after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday evening. However, explosive opener Shafali Verma will return straight to Nagaland for the Inter Zone T20 tournament to take charge of the North Zone team.
