From here Rohit Sharma along with Virat Kohli took charge. These two batsmen made an unbroken partnership of 168 runs in 169 balls and helped India win in just 38.3 overs. Rohit remained unbeaten after scoring 121 runs in 125 balls. His innings included 3 sixes and 13 fours. Whereas, Kohli scored 74 runs in 81 balls with 7 fours.
Josh Hazlewood was the only successful bowler from the opposition camp, taking one wicket for 23 runs in 6 overs. The Australian team had won the first two matches of the series. Australia won the first match of the series played in Perth by 7 wickets on the basis of Duckworth-Lewis rule, after which it won the second match played in Adelaide by 2 wickets.
