
The second semi-final of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 is being played between Australia and India at the DY Patil Sports Academy. Australia won the toss and batted first and scored 338 runs with the help of Phoebe Litchfield’s century.
Australia did not have a good start. Captain Alyssa Healy was out after scoring just 5 runs. Phoebe Litchfield and Elsie Perry rescued the team from this first setback on the score of 25. Both of them made a partnership of 130 runs for the second wicket. Lichfield was out for the second wicket on the score of 155. Lichfield played an innings of 119 runs in 93 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 17 fours.
There was a 40-run partnership between Perry and Mooney for the third wicket. Mooney was out after scoring 24 runs on the score of 220.
When Mooney’s wicket fell, Australia’s score was 220 runs for 3 wickets in 34 overs. Here the Indian bowlers made a comeback and took 3 wickets of Australia within the next 45 runs. Australia’s score became 265 for 6 wickets in 41.4 overs. It also included the wicket of Perry, who was out after scoring 77 runs. Australia seemed to be confined within 300.
Ashley Gardner, who came to bat at number six, hit 4 sixes and 4 fours in 45 balls and took the team’s score beyond 300 in an innings of 63 runs. When Gardner was out for the seventh wicket, Australia’s score was 331 for 7 in 48.3 overs. Australia scored 338 runs losing all the wickets in 49.5 overs.
For India, Shri Charani, Deepti Sharma took 2-2 wickets, Kranti Gaur, Amanjot Kaur and Radha Yadav took 1-1 wicket. Three batsmen were run out. History will have to be created for India to win this match and reach the final. Such a big target has never been chased before in women’s ODI cricket.
