Along with this, such propaganda through social media has also been asked to be banned. If such activities are found then action will be taken against the culprits.
The Excise Department has said in its instructions that in view of COVID-19, such a step was taken to avoid crowding at shops and to bring fairness in sales. The exemption or concession on the MRP of liquor is being abolished. It has been brought to the notice of the Department that discounts are being offered through retailers.
It was also observed that law and order problem was being created due to the large crowd gathering outside the liquor shops. Due to this the local people were getting inconvenienced. It should also be kept in mind that the corona infection is not completely over yet. The danger still remains.
According to the Excise Department, such exemption was given only to some licensees. The new excise policy did not intend to allow such exemptions. The licensees were indulging in promotional activities through social media. They even started selling liquor by putting up banners and hoardings outside the shops.
