Mumbai, January 14 (IANS). Adani Electricity on Wednesday appealed to kite flyers in Mumbai not to fly kites near overhead power transmission lines.
The company has said that flying kites near power lines can be very dangerous. This may not only pose a threat to people’s lives but may also disrupt power supply.
Adani Electricity, while wishing people on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, said that this advice is being given with the aim of celebrating the festival safely and happily.
The company said that it supplies electricity to its 31.5 lakh customers in Mumbai from underground power lines, but at some places in the city, there are also overhead transmission lines, which bring electricity from outside. Therefore it is very important to avoid flying kites near these lines.
The company also said that the string used to fly kites, called ‘manjha’, easily absorbs electricity. If this cord touches the electric wire or goes too close to it, it can cause a strong current, which is very dangerous.
Adani Electricity has appealed to the people that if they see or get information about any accident related to unsafe kite flying near power lines, then immediately inform on Adani Electricity helpline 19122, so that necessary steps can be taken in time.
Apart from this, people can also contact through @Adani_Elec_Mam social media handle, company website or Adani Electricity mobile app.
Makar Sankranti is a major harvest festival of India, which reflects our rich tradition and life associated with farming. This festival marks the entry of the Sun into Capricorn and is celebrated as a mid-winter harvest festival. This festival related to agricultural culture also symbolizes seasonal changes.
