Ahmedabad, July 24 (IANS). Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) on Friday said it has won an inter-state transmission project worth Rs 8,500 crore in Andhra Pradesh. Through this, electricity will be supplied to Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects in Vizag area. Their demand is expected to be around 4,500 gigawatts.
A statement issued by the company said that the government has allotted this project on Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework basis and Adani Energy Solutions has emerged as the most competitive bidder. This project will be delivered in the next 30 months.
Kandarp Patel, CEO, Adani Energy Solutions Limited, said, “The Vizag Transmission Project is an important step towards building the energy backbone for India’s next generation industrial growth. It will help in the development of green hydrogen and green ammonia capacity in Andhra Pradesh, while also strengthening the grid to meet the emerging digital infrastructure demand in the Pendurthi-Vizag region.”
Vizag is fast emerging as one of the new digital infrastructure hubs of India due to large-scale AI and hyperscale data center development, planned subsea connectivity and associated logistics, clean energy and industrial infrastructure.
Patel said that as India moves towards a clean and technology-based economy, “AESL is committed to building robust and future-ready transmission networks that can enable sustainable growth at scale.”
The project will also meet the growing power demand in the Pendurthi-Vizag region, where investment in data centers and digital infrastructure is taking place. It will be built under a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named ‘Vizag Power Transmission Limited’.
AESL said that with this project it will add 1,582 CKM transmission lines and 10,500 MVA transformation capacity, taking its total transmission network to 29,531 CKM and transformation capacity to 1,33,675 MVA. AESL is the largest private transmission company in the country.
As green molecule (green hydrogen) production and data centers expand in the region, reliable and high-capacity transmission infrastructure will be critical to maintaining power availability, grid stability and long-term industrial competitiveness.
