New Delhi, May 12 (IANS). Adani Group’s flagship company Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) said on Tuesday that its marine sector subsidiary Astro Offshore has signed a contract with US engineering and applied technology company Oceaneering International Inc. Has partnered with. The agreement aims to expand into ultra-deepwater and subsea operations, which is considered a major step in the company’s global offshore growth strategy.

The agreement between the two companies aims to take advantage of the unique offshore opportunities in Europe and strengthen capabilities in complex subsea engineering projects, including underwater construction, pipeline installation, inspection and maintenance.

This move is part of APSEZ’s larger strategy to create a global maritime platform combining logistics, offshore support services and deepwater infrastructure solutions.

As part of its expansion drive, Astro Offshore has commissioned its first ultra-deepwater vessel ‘Astro Offshore’. This will strengthen the company’s strategy to strengthen its new fleet with modern technology and high-specification.

Ashwani Gupta, Wholetime Director and Chief Executive Officer, APSEZ, said the partnership supports the company’s aim to build a globally diversified maritime platform.

He said that by combining Astro Offshore’s modern vessels and Oceaneering’s deepwater engineering and ROV expertise, the company is enhancing its capabilities in complex offshore operations and also expanding into Europe.

Astro Offshore CEO Mark Humphries said the addition of Astro Atlas further strengthens the company’s ultra-deepwater capabilities. With this the company will be able to meet the extensive needs of the offshore sector.

“This is our largest and most capable ship yet, which will help us better handle complex offshore operations and cater to the changing needs of our customers,” he said.

Additionally, the 97 meter long DP2 Multipurpose Support Vessel (formerly Energy Savannah) is equipped with state-of-the-art subsea systems. It has a 150 tonne capacity crane, a second crane, a moonpool and accommodation for up to 100 people.

The company said that this ship is capable of operating in sea areas with a depth of more than 3,000 meters.

This partnership comes at a time when APSEZ is pursuing a long-term strategy to rapidly expand its maritime business globally. The company aims to build a fleet of 200 ships by FY 2031, achieve revenue of Rs 6,000 crore from maritime business and make capital investment of Rs 13,000 crore.
