Indigenous company Zoho is in discussion these days. Recently, the company’s instant messaging app, Aratai, has become quite popular and the government is also promoting it. Now, the company seems to be making great preparations in the hardware sector. Zoho has now started selling point-off-cell devices or POS machines. These include integrated QR devices and sound boxes. Currently, Paytm and PhonePe’s POS devices are popular in India and are the most common payment options available in retail stores.
Launched under Zoho Payments, this POD device can give a tough competition to Paytm, PhonePe and Google Pay. The company’s smart POS device has a touchscreen interface and a built-in printer that immediately prints the receipts. The payment terminal of the Zoho supports 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Through this machine, traders can accept payment using chip card, UPI and QR code.
The CEO of Zoho Payment said that this is a natural expansion of the company, which will be launched in 2024. Although it was a software-based payment solution at that time, the company has since provided online payment assistance on all equipment. Now, the company has also introduced hardware. Since Zoho has all the equipment required for managing small businesses, their support will also be available in payment terminals. This means that traders will be able to access everything at the same place from the real-time payment tracking to the entire accounting. Zoho is certified PCI DSS for advanced security.
Aratai is gaining popularity
WhatsApp is the most used instant messaging app in India. However, the Aratai app of Zoho, which is indigenous, has now been launched. Apart from chatting, this app also provides facilities like calling and meeting. Till now, Aratai has not provided an end-to-end encryption for chatting, but the company said that it will soon apply end-to-to-end encryption for Aratai Chat.
Significantly, End-to-end encryption is considered the best standard for chat secrecy and security. After the implementation of this encryption, no one will be able to access chat data on utteya. The problem of chatting without encryption is that individual data can be accessed by hackers or company. WhatsApp has long end-to-end encryption, which has been audited several times by independent security researchers. It will be interesting to see how indigenous altrics compete with WhatsApp.
