Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Postal Department (DOP) signed an important MoU on Wednesday. Under this partnership, people will now be able to buy BSNL SIM card and mobile recharge from post offices across the country.
1.65 lakh post offices will be made sales centers
According to the agreement, more than 1.65 lakh post offices across the country will serve as BSNL SIM cards and sales centers of recharge. This will give a lot of relief to the people living in rural and remote areas, especially.
Post office will provide customers onboarding
Under this arrangement, BSNL will provide SIM card stock to post offices and train employees. The Department of Posts will provide new connections and recharge to customers in a safe and standardized manner.
Facility will increase in rural areas
The government says that with this partnership, people from rural and backward areas will be able to take advantage of BSNL services easily by visiting their nearest post offices. This will promote the goals of Digital India, Financial Inclusion and Socio-Economic Development.
Successful test in Assam
The pilot project of this agreement was run in Assam, where it was extremely successful. Now it is being implemented across the country. The MoU was signed in the national capital Delhi. Manisha Bansal (General Manager, Civil -century Services and RB) represented the Department of Posts, and Deepak Garg (Principal General Manager, Sales and Marketing – Consumer Mobility) represented BSNL.
Bansal said that this partnership connects a reliable network of Indian post and telecommunication of BSNL, giving every citizen affordable and accessible connectivity. Garg said that this cooperation will reach BSNL’s services to every corner of the country.
One year agreement
This agreement will be effective for one year from 17 September. It can be increased when needed. Both departments will review this monthly and strictly follow cyber security and data secrecy rules.
