New Delhi, May 23 (IANS). The retail price of compressed natural gas (CNG) was increased by Rs 1 per kg in the national capital on Saturday. This is the third time in the last 10 days that prices have been changed.
According to Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the price of CNG in New Delhi has increased from Rs 80.09 per kg to Rs 81.09 per kg.
At the same time, in neighboring cities Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad, the price of CNG has increased to Rs 89.70 per kg, while in Gurugram it has reached Rs 86.12 per kg.
Earlier on May 15, the price of CNG was increased by Rs 2 per kg, while on May 17, it increased by Rs 1 per kg.
The continued increase in CNG prices is likely to impact transport operators and passengers using gas-powered vehicles. This may increase household expenses and logistics costs.
Meanwhile, government oil marketing companies also increased the prices of petrol and diesel on Saturday. This is the third time in about 10 days that fuel prices have been increased.
The price of petrol has been increased by 87 paise per liter and that of diesel by 91 paise per liter. This increase has been made due to the rise in global crude oil prices and the ongoing geopolitical tension in West Asia, which is impacting the international energy market.
In the national capital Delhi, the price of petrol increased from Rs 98.64 to Rs 99.51 per liter, while diesel increased from Rs 91.58 to Rs 92.49 per liter. According to multiple reports, this increase has been implemented uniformly in many cities across the country.
The price of petrol in Kolkata has increased to Rs 110.64 per liter, while diesel has reached Rs 97.02 per liter.
In Mumbai, petrol has become Rs 108.49 per liter and diesel Rs 95.02 per liter.
Responding to criticism over rising fuel prices, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju had said earlier this month that despite the sharp rise in global crude oil prices, India has succeeded in limiting the rise in petrol and diesel prices.
