New Delhi, June 18 (IANS). During a special event organized in the national capital on the policy reforms announced for the express (courier) sector in the Union Budget 2026, industry, customs department and trade experts participated and spoke in detail on the new arrangements announced in the budget and their possible impacts.
Meanwhile, speaking to news agency IANS, Ajay Sahay, Director General and CEO of Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), said that many important changes have been made in the courier import-export rules in Budget 2026. He said that earlier the price limit of Rs 10 lakh was applicable on exports through courier and post through e-commerce, but now the government has abolished this limit.
He said that this decision will greatly benefit Indian exporters, especially those companies which export high value products. This will further strengthen the access of Indian products to global markets.
Meanwhile, EICI CEO Vijay Kumar, while talking to IANS, said that the main objective of the reforms announced in the budget is to make business easier. He said that removing the limit on export of high value products will facilitate exporters to send high value shipments through courier medium.
Additionally, the process of returning consignments rejected at international destination (Return-to-Origin – RTO) has also been simplified. He believes that these reforms will reduce many challenges faced by the business world and will give new impetus to export activities.
Apart from this, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) member Yogendra Garg told the news agency that the government is continuously working to improve the ‘ease of doing business’ in various sectors. He said the biggest challenges of the express and courier industry included price caps and lack of facilities like return-to-origin.
He said the government has taken necessary reforms to remove these bottlenecks, which will make the courier and express logistics industry faster, simpler and competitive.
Along with this, Delhi’s Air Cargo Commissioner Yogendra Singh said that in this time’s Union Budget, many corrective steps have been taken for the trade and logistics sector. This program was organized with the aim of spreading information about these reforms to the industry. He said that the changes made by the government will make business processes more simple and effective.
Experts believe that these reforms made in Budget 2026 will prove important for Indian exporters, e-commerce companies and logistics industry. Removal of price limits and simplification of procedures will increase the reach of Indian products in global markets, while ease of doing business will also give a new boost to the country’s exports.
