New Delhi, November 14 (IANS). According to information given by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Friday, a delegation of 24 senior government officials from 23 ITEC partner countries visited the headquarters of GeM under an MoU signed between the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM).
The visit by a delegation of senior government officials from these ITEC partner countries was part of a capacity building initiative.
Mihir Kumar, CEO, GeM, said on the occasion, “Our aim is to create a procurement ecosystem that is efficient as well as inclusive.”
He further said that when buyers and sellers connect with each other in a fair, transparent online marketplace, the country benefits from it.
According to the ministry, during the event the delegates gained a deep understanding of GeM’s digital architecture, best-in-class procurement practices and transformational outcomes achieved across India.
The visit focused on the systemic challenges associated with traditional procurement and showcased how GeM’s technology-led solutions are redefining the public procurement landscape.
The visit was important in furthering international cooperation on digital public procurement reform. Additionally, the visit reflected the shared vision of GeM and AJNIFM to promote capacity-building through cross-border leadership and procurement excellence.
The ministry said that this partnership deepens global understanding of India’s digital procurement transformation and strengthens GeM’s position as a global benchmark for transparent, efficient and technology-driven public procurement.
The main pillars of GeM – Capacity Enhancement, Thought Leadership, Community of Practice and Global Advocacy were discussed by the delegates.
With this visit, GeM reaffirmed its commitment to share India’s expertise with partner countries and advance global support for digital public procurement reform.
