New Delhi, October 5 (IANS) Ministry of Textiles has announced that it will run a nationwide ‘indigenous campaign’ especially between urban youth and Jane ji to promote domestic demand for handloom, handicrafts and textile products for the next six to nine months.

The ministry said in a statement that after the implementation of indigenous operations, the demand for domestic garments will increase from 9-10 percent per year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) to $ 250 billion by 2030.

The government said that the evaluation of India’s textile and apparel market reached $ 179 billion in 2024 and has registered a 7 percent increase on an annual basis.

Household (HH) sector contributes 58 percent in the Indian textile market and is growing from 8.19 percent CAGR.

Meanwhile, non-dysfunction consumption is 21 percent stake in the Indian market and is growing from CAGR of 6.79 percent.

The indigenous campaign to promote textile consumption between urban youth and generation ji will be “run all over India”, as well as market access and income opportunities for weavers, artisans and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The purpose of this campaign is to restore Indian textiles, especially for young consumers, as a symbol of pride and style.

An official statement stated that ministries, public sector units and educational institutions will be encouraged to adopt clothes manufactured in India for uniforms and decorations.

The ministry announced that the initiative complements existing programs, including the production-based incentive scheme for textiles, PM Mitra Park and a district a product initiative.

The press release states that the program will promote the slogan of social media outreach and state-level participation campaign.

The government said that the recent changes in GST rates will increase demand for textiles and costumes in domestic and non-scientists, which may increase the growth rate in the consumption of textiles in the country.
