These days a claim regarding the social media platform Instagram is becoming increasingly viral. In the claim being made on social media, it was being said that the Government of India is going to ban Instagram in the country. After this news, concern increased among many users and content creators. However, the Central Government has put forward the truth of this claim and told whether it has any basis or not.
Recently, a post was being shared rapidly on social media, in which it was claimed that the Indian government is going to ban Instagram from the night of 25 August 2026. In the post, users were asked to share information about this alleged decision with others as much as possible.

Central government told the truth of the claim
The central government on Monday issued a clarification on the viral claim and termed it completely false. The government said that no announcement has been made regarding banning Instagram in India. The government’s fact check unit PIB Fact Check also rejected this claim. Giving information through social media post, PIB Fact Check said that no such announcement has been made by the Government of India regarding banning Instagram.
PIB Fact Check appeals to people
PIB Fact Check Unit has also appealed to people to report suspicious content. If any claim related to the Central Government is made in any post, message or news and there is doubt about its authenticity, then users can report it for investigation. The fact check team of the government continuously checks the misinformation spread on social media and works to provide correct information to the people.
Fake claims of ban have come to light before too
You should know that this is not the first time that the claim of Instagram being banned in India has gone viral. Even before this, such posts and messages have appeared on social media many times, in which there was talk of banning Instagram or other social media platforms.
