New Delhi, October 18 (IANS). The Center on Saturday said the ‘Rajmargyatra’ app of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) allows users to gift Fastag annual passes. The government urged citizens to consider it an ideal gift for travelers this Diwali and festive season.

The pass can be activated by clicking on the ‘Add Pass’ option on the app and then entering the recipient’s vehicle number and contact details of the person to whom they wish to gift the pass, an official statement said.

After simple OTP verification, the Annual Pass will be activated on the FASTag linked to that vehicle, facilitating seamless travel without frequent recharges.

FASTag Annual Pass provides a seamless and affordable travel option to National Highway users and is applicable at approximately 1,150 toll plazas across India.

The annual pass costs Rs 3,000 and is valid for one year or 200 toll plaza crossings.

This pass is applicable for all non-commercial vehicles with valid Fastag.

After making the one-time fee payment through the ‘RajmargYatra’ app, the annual pass gets activated within two hours on the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle.

When the limit is reached, Fastag automatically switches to standard pay-per-trip mode.

For point-based toll plazas, each one-way crossing is considered one trip and the return trip is considered two trips. In closed or ticketed systems, the entire entry-to-exit journey is considered one trip.

Some FASTags, especially those issued for new vehicles, may be registered only with the vehicle’s chassis number.

Annual Pass cannot be activated on such FASTags and they must be updated to include the complete vehicle registration number.

Payment for the pass can be made through UPI, debit or credit card, or net banking. Fastag wallet balance cannot be used for this purpose.

The Fastag Annual Pass has grown to over 25 lakh users and around 5.67 crore transactions have been processed within the first two months of its launch, a statement from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said.
