New Delhi, November 5 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated Amul and IFFCO for securing the first and second positions respectively in the global ranking of cooperatives.
This is a big achievement for India’s cooperative sector. India’s two leading cooperatives, Amul and IFFCO, have secured first and second positions in the global ranking of cooperatives.

Earlier, giving proof of the immense potential of cooperatives, Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah had congratulated dairy giant Amul and Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) for securing the first two ranks among the top 10 cooperatives of the world.
Home Minister Amit Shah wrote in an ex-post, “This is a proud moment for India! Hearty congratulations to Amul and IFFCO for securing the first two positions in the top ten cooperative companies of the world.”
Shah said, “This is a recognition of the tireless hard work of millions of women associated with Amul and farmers who contribute to IFFCO. It is also a proof of the immense potential of cooperatives, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi is transforming into a global model of empowerment and self-reliance.”
India’s dairy sector is the backbone of village livelihood and a symbol of inclusive development. Being the largest milk producing country in the world, India has made great progress through farmers’ cooperative groups, women’s participation and scientific methods.
While protecting the existing achievements, the Government is continuously supporting the sector through subsidies, credit facilities, research in feed and animal health, etc., so that India’s dairy sector remains strong, inclusive and can meet the demand of the country and abroad in the future.
