In the initial phase, the company will invest $10 billion, while an additional $30 billion can be invested once certain milestones are met. This deal is considered to be one of the biggest partnerships in the AI sector. Anthropic is becoming increasingly popular, largely due to its “Cloud Code” and other AI tools. Google and Anthropic are already partners, yet they also remain each other’s competitors in this AI race. With this investment, competition in the AI industry is expected to intensify.
$10 billion now, $30 billion later
Google’s parent company, Alphabet, will initially invest $10 billion in cash in Anthropic. Following this investment, Anthropic’s valuation is expected to remain stable at $350 billion. The company has said that if it successfully meets certain performance targets, Google will invest an additional $30 billion in the next round. This capital will be used to enhance Anthropic’s computing capabilities and develop new AI models. This step will give the company an opportunity to further strengthen its competitive position compared to OpenAI and other competing companies.
