New Delhi, October 17 (IANS). Deloitte Principal and Global AI Leader Nitin Mittal said on Friday that Artificial Intelligence may be rapidly changing industries, but at least so far this technology has not taken away jobs.
The Last Job at NDTV World Summit 2025? In a session titled AI and the Future of Work, Mittal said that he has not yet seen a single case of job loss due to AI.
Explaining how emerging technologies such as agentic AI are reshaping work patterns, he said, “I have not yet heard of a single case of job loss due to AI.”
He said that some roles requiring frequent coding have definitely been affected by AI, but these roles are evolving rather than disappearing.
Mittal said, “Coding is a perfect example. Those jobs are white coding, which are supposed to be done by humans and have been impacted. Especially agentic AI and in the near future, physical AI will impact jobs. But I have not found a single job that has been lost because of AI.”
Mittal described agentic AI as autonomous systems that can set goals, plan and act with minimal human intervention.
He also highlighted the importance of Sovereign AI, which not only protects data but also preserves the culture and language of the nation.
When Mittal was asked how India can ensure that it does not remain a back office in the global AI revolution, he said the country already enjoys a natural advantage due to its strong services sector.
Mittal said, “India has a major and natural advantage in applying technology in AI because of its service sector. But the question is how do we take advantage of this? This requires massive re-skilling and investment.”
Giving information, he said that the Government of India has started many AI-focused programs, but the entire society will have to take the responsibility of taking this change forward.
