Bengaluru, October 31 (IANS). India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) and Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) on Friday announced a strategic partnership aimed at integrating the country into the global semiconductor value chain.
The announcement was made at a joint press conference in Bengaluru, coinciding with the India Semiconductor Leadership Roundtable jointly organized by ICEA and GSA.
Combining ICEA’s deep engagement with India’s policy and manufacturing ecosystem and GSA’s large international network of semiconductor sector leaders, the partnership aims to facilitate cross-border collaboration, strengthen diversification across the value chain, and further strengthen India’s position as a major contributor to the global semiconductor industry.
Under this partnership, ICEA and GSA jointly inaugurated the ‘India Semiconductor Leadership Roundtable’ in Bengaluru, which was attended by global and Indian semiconductor leaders and senior policymakers.
Taking this partnership forward, ICEA and GSA will jointly organize the ‘India Semiconductor Leadership Summit’ in 2026, the date of which is yet to be confirmed.
According to Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and CEO of India Semiconductor Mission, the partnership of ICEA and GSA is both timely and strategic.
“It connects the global fabless ecosystem with India’s growing design and manufacturing base, paving the way for funding of Indian fabless champions, upcoming Indian foundries and packaging units,” he said.
Under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the government has approved an outlay of Rs 76,000 crore to build a semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem. Around 10 projects with investment commitments of around Rs 1.6 lakh crore have already been approved, including a manufacturing unit, ATMP/OSAT facilities and compound-semiconductor initiative, indicating a strong pace of implementation.
