Smartphone camera technology has now reached a level where it is giving tough competition to professional cameras. Thanks to larger sensors, advanced image processing, and AI-based features, many smartphones today offer excellent performance in both photography and videography. The common belief is that iPhone is the best in terms of cameras, but the 2025 ranking of the famous camera testing platform DXOMARK tells a different truth. iPhone is not on top in this list; It is in third place.

According to DXOMARK’s latest ranking, the best camera phone of 2025 is Huawei Pura 80 Ultra. This smartphone has a 50-megapixel 1-inch primary camera sensor with variable aperture. It also has a 40-megapixel ultra-wide camera and two periscope telephoto cameras that support 3.7x and 9.4x optical zoom. Thanks to its large sensor and flexible camera controls, this phone is capable of taking great photos in all lighting conditions. However, this phone is not yet available in the Indian market.

In second place is Oppo Find X8 Ultra. This phone has a very advanced quad-camera setup with five different sensors. It includes a 1-inch 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, 3x and 6x periscope telephoto lens, and a special chroma sensor. This camera system is particularly known for its color accuracy and zoom photography capabilities. This smartphone has also not been launched in India.

In third place is Apple iPhone 17 Pro. This phone has a setup of three 48-megapixel cameras with 5x optical zoom support. According to DXOMARK, the iPhone 17 Pro is one of the strongest contenders in terms of video recording. Its computational photography improves both still photos and videos. Its starting price in India is expected to be around ₹1,34,900.

In fourth place is the Vivo X200 Ultra, which has a powerful camera system with ZEISS optics. It includes a 35mm primary lens, an ultra-wide camera, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto sensor. It also uses an exclusive Sony sensor and gimbal stabilization to improve low-light photography.

At number five is Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. This phone has a triple camera setup and image processing is very good, which is the specialty of the Pixel series. This 2025 ranking clearly shows that the competition in the world of smartphone cameras has become tougher than ever.
