New Delhi, May 5 (IANS). Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary said on Tuesday that IIT Madras is playing a big role in taking the ideas of students to the market. Startups supported and funded by them have been successful in launching Initial Public Offering (IPO).
Speaking at an event at IIT Madras in the national capital, Choudhary said that on the theme of ‘Buildings for India’, donors from the industry and people associated with the education system have gathered at IIT to disseminate the technology being developed for the betterment of the society to the world. Bharat Innovates 2026 has also been developed as a global platform to promote innovation. Under this, a big event is going to be held in France in the coming days.
He further said that today a Center of Excellence related to circular economy and health sector has been inaugurated here. Here in the exhibition you can find applications ranging from brain mapping to molecular testing, mapping to sports science.
He also expressed his gratitude to IIT Madras for increasing innovation and said that the institute is playing a big role in taking the ideas of the students to the market and the institute is continuously helping the students in funding, product development and other things. For this reason, many startups supported by IIT Madras have been successful in launching IPOs.
At the same time, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that research should not be limited only to PhD dissertations and academic publications, but it should lead to concrete innovations that benefit the society. He said the government has allocated Rs 1 lakh crore for research and development to support industry, startups and educational institutions through various initiatives.
Bharat Innovates 2026 is an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, with strategic guidance and suggestions from the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to the Government of India. Its objective is to showcase on the global platform the R&D enabled technology innovation capability being developed in Indian Higher Education Institutions/Higher Education Institutions.
Held in France, the initiative aims to present approximately 100 promising and groundbreaking technology innovations at various stages of development to a global audience including industry leaders, investors, policy makers, potential collaborators and technology partners.
