New Delhi, February 24 (IANS). Speaking to news agency IANS regarding the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ organized in the national capital last week, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Research Foundation Director Binay Kumar Singh said that India is moving rapidly in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI will play an important role in achieving the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
He said that when the country completes 100 years of its independence, then AI will become a major basis for building the future. He also said that the government has set a deadline of March 31 to end Naxalism and surrenders are continuously taking place, which are positive signs.
Binay Kumar Singh strongly criticized the demonstration by Youth Congress workers during the summit. He said that this was a platform for the progress of the country; This should not have been allowed to become a political platform. He said that such demonstrations affect the country’s image at the international level.
He also said that Rahul Gandhi should have strongly condemned this and taken a clear stand on this matter. He should have taken note of such incidents within his party, especially such indecent and inappropriate demonstrations, and not supported it.
He said, “Whenever we talk about development, technology plays an important role in it. Especially modern technology cannot be ignored under any circumstances. The AI Summit was a proof that India is moving forward in step with modern, latest and future technologies.”
At the same time, Professor Diwan Singh Rawat, Vice Chancellor of Nainital-based Kumaon University, told IANS that this was a big AI summit of the world, in which representatives of more than 100 countries and stalwarts of the technical field participated. He said that India’s AI contribution has been acknowledged globally and this summit was an important and successful initiative of the Government of India.
Pro. Giving an example, Rawat said that in an area like drug discovery, where earlier it took 15 to 18 years, with the help of AI, this process can be completed in 5 to 6 years. He said that the impact of AI will be seen in every field and it will promote creativity and innovation. He also mentioned India’s progress in areas such as digital infrastructure, highway construction and digital transactions and said the promotion of startup culture by the government will give a new impetus to AI development.
He described the protests during the summit as unfortunate and said that differences are natural in a democracy, but they should be kept in a proper and constructive manner. Citing the example of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, he said that a strong and fact-based opposition is essential for democracy. He said that criticism on any issue should be based on data and facts and not just on rhetoric.
