New Delhi, April 30 (IANS). Within just a week of OpenAI launching ChatGPT Image 2.0, India has emerged as its largest user base. This information came to light on Thursday.
But beyond the data, what stands out is that people in India are using this AI tool in new ways — using it for creativity, identity and digital storytelling.
Where earlier AI was considered just a tool to make work easier, now people in India are using it as a medium for their expression.
Users in India are creating images like anime style portraits, cinematic photos, fantasy newspaper covers and tarot cards. Especially the youth is using it to show their style and identity.
Its popularity has also increased because new technology has been added to ChatGPT Image 2.0. It can create detailed images, write accurate text (in multiple languages), and understand complex instructions, even with a small number of words.
Thinking ability has also been added to it, through which it can better understand the user’s instructions and give different options and can also use information from the internet when needed.
But the real story lies in how people are using it. India users are pushing the boundaries of the tool, creating everything from professional photos, LinkedIn-style headshots, paparazzi-inspired ‘flash’ photos to whimsical pastel ‘Spring’ aesthetics and fashion-focused ‘Style Me’ transformations.
People are changing even everyday photos to give them a great look, and are also making old or bad photos better.
Some people are also doing different kinds of experiments with it, like showing themselves on the front page of the newspaper, creating tarot card images or creating future houses and designs.
Apart from this, special trends are also being seen in India, like filmy portrait collages and old (Y2K) style romantic edits.
This change shows that now AI tools are not limited to just technical work, but in India they have become a part of social media, fashion, fan culture and personal identity.
