New Delhi, November 7 (IANS). Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal on Friday said that inspired by the vision of PM Modi, key initiatives like PM e-Bus service, RRTS and Metro expansion remain important in bringing about a sustainable urban transformation for India by 2047.
“Inaugurated the 18th Urban Mobility India Conference-cum-Exhibition 2025 in Gurugram today,” the Union Minister wrote on social media platform X.
Giving information about this conference-cum-exhibition, he said that while giving information in the event, I told that today urban development is not limited to infrastructure only. It is also about ensuring a dignified life to every citizen.
“True mobility means change. This forum reflects our shared commitments to move change in the right direction,” he said.
According to the information given by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, in the inaugural speech, the Union Minister praised the contribution of Urban Mobility India in shaping India’s mobility ecosystem.
He said that with about 1100 kilometers of operational metro network, India has become the third largest metro network in the world and with this the country is going to reach the second position.
Union Minister Manohar Lal said about PM e-bus service that he announced to put 10,000 electric buses on the roads in small cities. Of these, 100 e-buses will be brought to Gurugram.
He said that last mile connectivity remains a big challenge regarding metro travel. He assured that the ministry will make every possible effort to bring reforms.
Union Minister Manohar Lal said that Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), along with its subsidiary Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL), will act as the nodal agency on behalf of the Ministry for execution of projects related to consultancy, construction, turnkey projects, management services and operation and maintenance in India and abroad.
