Global tech giant Google has made a big bet on India. Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced that his company will invest ₹1.33 lakh crore ($15 billion) to build a major Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub in India. Pichai on Tuesday said he has spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about this and shared with him the US tech giant’s plans for its first AI hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Google has announced a massive data center and artificial intelligence base in Visakhapatnam, which will be its largest AI hub outside the US. The company said Google will invest ₹15 billion in India over the next five years. Citing his conversation with Prime Minister Modi, Sundar Pichai shared this information on social media and called it a historic step.

“It was great to speak to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. We shared our plans for the first Google AI Center in Visakhapatnam, which is a historic milestone,” the Indian-origin CEO wrote on Twitter. Pichai wrote, “This center brings together gigawatt-scale computing capacity, a new international subsea gateway, and vast energy infrastructure. Through it, we will bring our industry-leading technology to Indian enterprises and users, accelerating AI innovation and driving growth across the country.”

On the other hand, a major event called “India AI Shakti” was organized in Delhi, in which many key ministers of the Government of India came together. Partnership with Adani Group
As per the agreement, US-based Google will invest US$15 billion over the next five years to set up an AI hub in Visakhapatnam. It will also include the country’s largest data center in partnership with Adani Group. In this program, Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and other dignitaries were present.
