New Delhi, November 19 (IANS). According to information given by the Ministry of Communications on Thursday, Indian Post has inaugurated the first Gen-G themed revamped post-office in IIT Delhi. This is an important milestone in the modernization journey of Indian Post. The initiative reflects Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s vision of transforming post offices into vibrant and youth-centric places.
The renovated office of IIT Hauz Khas Post Office, New Delhi was inaugurated by Vandita Kaul, Secretary, Department of Posts.
According to the ministry, this change is part of a national initiative under which 46 existing post offices located in educational campuses will be revamped by December 15 this year. A key pillar of the program is student engagement, with India Post engaging students as brand ambassadors, co-creators of designs and collaborators in social media outreach.
In a first of its kind, a student franchise model has also been started at IIT Delhi, which provides practical knowledge of postal operations and promotes entrepreneurship. Apart from this, special branded parcel packaging facilities are also provided to facilitate the students in booking parcels.
The revamped Campus Post Office of IIT Delhi introduces a new concept of postal services in educational institutions. The space has been designed collaboratively with students, featuring a modern aesthetic, Wi-Fi enabled areas, creative graffiti and artwork by the IIT Fine Arts Society. Additionally, it also features a suite of smart service touchpoints, including QR-based parcel booking and student-friendly speed post discounts.
The ministry said in a statement that India Post is committed to creating modern, attractive and accessible postal space in India’s educational institutions.
“This renovation reflects India Post’s efforts to improve user experience through youth-oriented design and improved service environment,” India Post wrote in a post on social media platform X.
