New Delhi, 4 October (IANS). According to Coffee Board data, India’s coffee exports increased by 15 percent to $ 1.05 billion in the April-September period of the current financial year. In the same period of the last financial year, $ 91.8 million coffee was exported from the country.
Coffee exports increased by 19 percent to Rs 9,119.24 crore in the first half of FY 26 in the term of Rs, which was Rs 7,678.74 crore a year ago.
In addition, the income per unit of exporters increased by 34 percent to Rs 4.71 lakh per ton, which was Rs 3.52 lakh per tonne a year ago.
In the half of this financial year, Indian coffee shipment increased by 24 percent to $ 1.95 billion, which was $ 1.57 billion last year.
This quantity during the January-September period this year was 2.96 lakh tonnes (3.34 lakh tonnes).
India is the seventh largest producer and fifth largest exporter of coffee.
Meanwhile, on 1 October, on the occasion of International Coffee Day, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal was seen enjoying different tastes of Indian coffee in the sideline of India-EFTA Prosperity Summit.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal wrote on the social media platform X, “On International Coffee Day, I got an opportunity to enjoy various tastes of our own Indian coffee during the India-EFTA Prosperity Summit.”
He further said that there is no match of its rich aroma and taste, it reminds us how special our desi coffee is. We wish for the success of our coffee growers and the continuous development of the region.
Commerce Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal inaugurated the Coffee Experience Zone and Expo organized by Coffee Board this week on the occasion of International Coffee Day.
The Commerce Secretary highlighted that Indian coffee is sustainable and is grown with forests. He said that coffee exports from India have doubled in recent years.
Aggarwal also emphasized the need for more diversification in the field of coffee cultivation. He emphasized the need for continuous innovation and value addition and said that being a land of spices, there are immense innovation opportunities in the field of coffee in India.
