New Delhi, November 2 (IANS). In the last decade, there has been a big change in India’s technology and industrial sector and the country has succeeded in making its mark in the world as an electronics export hub.

Kuwait Times reported that India was once one of the world’s largest electronics importers, but is now emerging as an electronics and manufacturing hub.

It was told in the article that the country’s electronics exports have increased six times in the last decade to $ 128 billion by 2025, which was $ 21 billion in 2015.

The surge in India’s electronics exports is due to strong government support, improving technology capability, skilled workforce and growing confidence in the country by global investors.

About 25 lakh employment opportunities have been created in this sector in the last 10 years and it is playing an important role in the development of the country.

Initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, National Policy on Electronics (NPE) 2019 and Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) have attracted large global companies and encouraged domestic innovation.

Mobile phones have played a central role in India’s digital journey. Today, more than 85 percent of Indian households own a smartphone.

Affordable handsets, cheap internet data and growing digital infrastructure have given millions of people the opportunity to participate in the digital economy.

Platforms like UPI, DigiLocker and Aadhaar-enabled services have made digital access easier even in remote areas.

The country has also progressed rapidly in mobile manufacturing in the last decade. The value of the country’s mobile production has increased to $62 billion in 2024-25, which was $2 billion in 2014-15.

At the same time, the country’s electronics export has increased to $37 billion in 2024-25, which was $4.3 billion in 2014-15.

India has now achieved near self-sufficiency in mobile production and has also become the top smartphone exporter to the United States in the second quarter of FY 2025-26.
