New Delhi, November 4 (IANS). Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday said India’s energy journey is entering a new era.
Union Minister Puri wrote in a post on the social media platform, “Under the leadership of PM Modi, Mission Anubhav has become the largest seismic mapping program in the history of India, which was launched in October last year with an investment of Rs 792 crore.”
By sharing a video, he informed that for many decades we have been dependent on oil and gas for most of our needs. Even today 80 percent of our energy needs are being met by these.
He said that as the fastest growing economy of the world, our demand is continuously increasing with time. Along with this, it is estimated that India will register 25 percent share in the global energy demand growth in the next two decades and to create this future, India is focusing on its internal changes.
We are looking at the riches hidden under our own land and sea and this is the spirit of mission exploration.
Giving further information about this mission, it has been told in the video that the objective of the mission is to map more than 20 thousand ground line kilometers across the country.
Giving information about the progress of the mission, he said that till now a total of 8000 ground-line kilometers have been surveyed.
According to the information given in the video, seven sedimentary basins from the desert of Rajasthan to the depths of Krishna-Godavari Basin are being studied with the most advanced seismic technology. With this, the story of our underground reserve is being captured, processed and interpreted.
According to Union Minister Puri, our aim is clear and powerful to discover new oil and gas fields, strengthen domestic production, reduce dependence on expensive imports and make India self-reliant in energy.
