The discussion started when a user on X wrote, “A Starlink phone would be awesome.” For those who don’t know, Starlink is SpaceX’s satellite-based internet service, which uses more than 100 satellites in low-Earth orbit to provide high-speed internet. Now, Elon Musk has responded to that comment, saying, “It’s not impossible.” But Musk has already made one thing clear: This device will be no ordinary smartphone – it will be much more than that.
This phone will come with a unique design
According to Elon Musk, the Starlink phone could be a performance beast based on Artificial Intelligence. “This will be a very different device from existing phones, fully optimized to run neural nets at maximum performance/watts.” This is not the first time Musk has hinted at getting into smartphone manufacturing. It’s a long haul, and the journey from idea to production is a long one. If that ever happens, you can expect something very different from a typical smartphone, as Elon Musk has a history of creating things that are unique or stand out.
The audience for this phone may be limited as not everyone is fond of AI, but yes, this phone can be a big competitor to flagship devices from Samsung, Apple and other brands. However, nothing is confirmed yet, so it will be interesting to see whether this phone remains just a concept or will it actually be manufactured.
