New Delhi, July 4 (IANS). The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ campaign, which is being run to economically empower rural women, is now getting major support from the digital platform ‘Lok OS’. According to the government factsheet, the platform is making the campaign more effective through large-scale outreach to beneficiaries, monitoring their progress and digital monitoring.
At present, a strong network of 6,611 Master Trainers, 4.09 lakh Community Resource Persons (CRPs), and 3.87 crore potential Lakhpati Didis have been created through ‘Lok OS’. Additionally, 18.50 crore digital livelihood registers are also available on the platform, providing a strong digital foundation for livelihood planning, monitoring and implementation.
‘Lok OS’ is a modern digital platform developed under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihood Mission. Its objective is to digitalize the entire functioning of community-based organizations.
With its expansion across the country, the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ campaign has gained new momentum and is promoting economic empowerment and financial inclusion of rural women. Besides, it is also playing an important role in building self-reliant rural communities.
According to government data, ‘Lok OS’ is enhancing transparency, better governance and efficiency through real-time monitoring and digital financial management. It also effectively monitors the financial assistance received by community institutions. So far, Revolving Fund (RF) worth Rs 9,718.41 crore, Community Investment Fund (CIF) worth Rs 64,607.66 crore and Community Enterprise Fund (CEF) worth Rs 38.34 crore are being tracked through the platform.
Members’ records, profiles, savings, loans, repayments, financial transactions, livelihood activities, and information related to various government schemes are also recorded digitally on ‘Lok OS’. The platform currently reaches 34 states/UTs, 762 districts, 7,241 blocks, 2.57 lakh gram panchayats, and 5.92 lakh villages.
Both web and mobile applications are available in it. The web application is used by administrators, e-bookkeepers and transaction approving officers to manage Self Help Groups, Village Organizations, Cluster Level Federations and their members. At the same time, the activities of community organizations in the field can be easily recorded and conducted through mobile applications.
According to the government statement, ‘Lok OS’ has given a new impetus to the digital transformation of community institutions across the country. This has increased transparency, accountability and efficiency. Besides, better implementation and monitoring of schemes at all levels has also been strengthened.
