Bank of Baroda and Jio together launched ‘Bob World Lite’ app on Monday, which is specially designed for feature phone users. Its main objective is to provide banking services to villages and small towns across the country. With the help of this app, it will become easy to make UPI payments even on feature phones. This app can prove to be a game-changer for those who do not use smartphones. Its interface is very simple and its design is also light-weight.
Starting with JioPhone
In partnership with Bank of Baroda and Jio, the Bob World Lite app is specially designed keeping in mind the feature phone users. The app has been initially made available on JioPhone Prima 4G series, where users can download it directly from JioStore. The companies plan to have this app pre-installed in upcoming feature phone models, and appear directly on the home screen. Its aim is to provide banking services to millions of users who do not currently use smartphones or fast internet.
Key Features of Bob World Lite App
Through the Bob World Lite app, users will get features like ‘UPI Scan & Pay’, which will enable them to make payments easily. Apart from this, the app also allows you to transfer money, make bill payments, recharge prepaid mobile and manage profiles. Bank of Baroda has said that more features will be added to this app in future. One special thing is that this app is not limited to only Bank of Baroda customers; Users from other banks can also use the app through a self-onboarding process, significantly expanding its reach.
Designed for low bandwidth; Claiming secure and easy access
The app is built on a lightweight, low-bandwidth architecture, making it work smoothly even on slow internet connections. It’s designed with keypad navigation in mind—a must for feature phone users—making the user experience simple and intuitive. Bank of Baroda and Jio claim that this app gives secure access to digital banking services. Through this initiative, the companies aim to accelerate the growth of digital finance across the country and bring a larger section of the population under the ambit of digital banking.
