New Delhi, July 18 (IANS). Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 rocket created history by successful orbital launch on Saturday under Mission Aagaam. On this achievement, industry leaders called it a historic achievement for India’s private space sector. He says that this mission has proved India’s private space capabilities globally and has opened new opportunities for satellite launches and space-based services.
The Indian Space Association (ISPA) and space analytics company Suhora Technologies issued separate statements saying that this mission is a major leap for India’s commercial space ecosystem and has further strengthened the country as a global space technology hub.
Indian Space Association (ISPA) Director General Lieutenant General (Retd) A.K. Bhatt said the successful orbital flight of Vikram-1 is a defining achievement in India’s space journey, as it is the country’s first completely private sector-run orbital mission.
He said, “The successful orbital flight of Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 (Mission Arrival) is a milestone in India’s space journey. By successfully executing the country’s first fully private orbital flight, Skyroot has broken old boundaries and proved that India’s domestic industry is now capable of successfully carrying out end-to-end space missions.”
He also appreciated the technology demo payloads successfully deployed with this mission. These include CosmoServe Space’s EMBRACE robotic arm, developed for orbital debris removal, Skyroot’s own scope, and Graha Space’s Solaras S3 satellite.
A.K. According to Bhatt, this mission is proof that Indian private companies are now creating global scale infrastructure for space sustainability and state-of-the-art Earth observation.
“The successful deployment of such complex and intellectual property-based payloads proves that India’s private space ecosystem is now developing global critical infrastructure for the sustainable security of space and high-quality Earth observation,” he said.
He also said that Skyroot becoming India’s first space technology unicorn is a strong message to government and institutional investors across the world that India’s private space sector is now a globally competitive, reliable and capable industry to meet the growing demand for small satellite launches.
Meanwhile, Krishanu Acharya, CEO and co-founder of Suhora Technologies, said that this successful launch is a historic moment for the entire Indian space ecosystem.
“The availability of lower cost and faster launch services will enable Indian satellite operators to deploy and update their satellite constellations more rapidly. This will significantly improve the availability, frequency and timeliness of Earth observation data,” he said.
He further said that this will also pave the way for emerging downstream and space application based startups to develop and operate dedicated satellites as per their needs.
