New Delhi, May 13 (IANS). Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said he interacted with over 1,000 representatives of industry associations and urged them to take advantage of the unprecedented opportunities emerging through India’s growing FTA network.
In a post on ‘X’, the minister said he stressed the need to prepare early, explore new markets, strengthen ‘Brand India’, improve quality and productivity and become more competitive globally.
“Inspired by the vision of PM Narendra Modi, I call upon the industry to transform global challenges into opportunities through innovation, energy efficiency, better logistics, R&D and collective national efforts to build a strong export ecosystem and realize the vision of ‘Developed India 2047’,” Goyal posted.
Earlier, the Minister chaired the ‘India-Chile Business Roundtable’ along with Chile’s Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez McKenna, Undersecretary for International Economic Relations Paula Estevez and other distinguished business leaders from the two countries.
The main focus of the discussions was the immense potential of India-Chile partnership, which spans across critical minerals, food processing, healthcare, clean energy, technology transfer and many emerging sectors.
Goyal said, “We discussed many exciting opportunities for cooperation under the India-Chile CEPA; this agreement will further deepen our bilateral relations and open up new growth opportunities in various sectors for our businesses and people.”
Earlier, Goyal highlighted the government’s key achievements in the last 10 days, such as export promotion initiatives, progress in free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations, and discussions with global companies aimed at strengthening manufacturing investment in India.
In a post on ‘X’, the minister informed that honey produced under ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) of Assam has been exported to the US for the first time; On the other hand, India and Canada have successfully concluded the second round of negotiations for the proposed ‘Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement’ (CEPA).
He also emphasized that the government has engaged with industry leaders from global companies such as Airbus, L’Oréal Group, Carrier and LVMH to deepen investment in India and strengthen the manufacturing sector.
According to the Minister, the government also held important meetings to review the progress of India’s FTAs, export promotion strategies and ‘Sanitary and Phytosanitary’ (SPS) approvals; The objective of these approvals is to improve global market access for Indian agricultural and fishery products.
