Victoria, June 29 (IANS). Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s three-day visit to Seychelles has concluded and he has left for home. During this visit of PM Modi, 19 issues were in focus between India and Seychelles. In these, it was agreed to implement UPI based digital payment system in Seychelles, cooperation on Jan Aushadhi Scheme, combating climate change, increasing cooperation in green hydrogen, energy, blue economy and other areas.

The 19 major points between India and Seychelles are as follows-
A Fast Patrol Vessel was gifted to the Government of Seychelles, strengthening maritime security cooperation and enhancing India’s role as a net security provider in the Indian Ocean region. This also gives a boost to Indian defense manufacturing capabilities.
10 utility vehicles and 5 sets of Laser Radial Class boats were delivered to the Seychelles Defense Force. Strengthening bilateral security and defense cooperation and enhancing India’s role as a trusted and reliable partner in the Indian Ocean region.
6 ambulances handed over to the Government of Seychelles. This reinforces India’s commitment as a trusted humanitarian partner. This also strengthens relationships between people through public welfare.
India provided 500 metric tonnes of rice to Seychelles. This will strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of food security and also demonstrates India’s commitment towards the Global South.
8,500 metric tons of cement was handed over to the Government of Seychelles. This reflects India’s commitment to timely meet the development needs of partner countries and its development partnership model.
Virtual ground-breaking ceremony for the Professional and Technical Education Centre, reaffirms India’s role as a preferred development partner. It creates long term institutional linkages and creates good feeling among the local people.
Refit of PS Zoroaster completed for Seychelles Coast Guard, which will enhance maritime security in the Indian Ocean region while deepening defense cooperation. Additionally, it will reiterate India’s role as a net security provider in the IOR.
Dornier aircraft with glass cockpits are being upgraded, which enhances defense and security cooperation and strengthens India’s role in modernizing defense assets of partner countries.
Seychelles gained membership of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI). This will promote disaster management, climate-friendly infrastructure and global cooperation.
The MOU exchange took place between Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora (MOFAD) of the Republic of Seychelles. It enhances India’s role as a partner for capacity building and strengthens diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The MoUs were exchanged between National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), International Payments Limited, and the Central Bank of Seychelles. It pioneered the UPI-based digital payments system in Seychelles, highlighting India’s digital public infrastructure presence on the world stage and deepening economic and technological cooperation between the two countries. It will also promote better relations between people.
The MoU signed between M/s HLL Lifecare Limited and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Seychelles under the Jan Aushadhi Scheme will facilitate access to high-quality and affordable Indian medicines in partner countries and enhances India’s role in global pharmaceutical standards.
MoUs on agricultural research and education and work plans for 2026-2031 were exchanged. It promotes India’s position as a knowledge partner in the Global South while strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture.
Extradition Treaty signed between the Republic of India and the Republic of Seychelles, which deepens legal and security cooperation between the two countries and strengthens cooperation in combating transnational crime.
MOUs were exchanged on recognition of the training and certification of seafarers for service on Seychelles flagged ships. This strengthens India’s role as a leading global supplier of skilled maritime manpower while creating employment opportunities for Indian seafarers.
MoUs were exchanged for cooperation in the exploration and uses of outer space for peaceful purposes, which will provide opportunities for use of Indian satellite applications in both countries and enhance ISRO’s global presence. Strengthens India’s position as a trusted space partner for both countries.
MOUs were also exchanged on the initial preparations for the new Seychelles National Hospital, which furthers bilateral cooperation in the health care sector and reaffirms India’s role as a trusted development partner of Seychelles.
Signed an Umbrella Line of Credit Agreement between the Government of Seychelles and the Export-Import Bank of India, strengthening India’s role as a preferred development partner supporting sustainable and inclusive growth.
