New Delhi, 4 October (IANS). A new study has revealed that in the long -affected people from Kovid, an abnormal disease of the heart, called the Postral orthostatic Tachycardia syndrome (POTS), is quite common.
The study found that the heart beats very strong in this disease when a person is in a position to stand by lying down. The special thing is that this situation is more seen in middle -aged women than men.
Due to POTS, the affected people have a lot of trouble standing. Their heart starts to beat in a state of rest and even when they work hard. In addition, such people feel more tired and also have difficulty in focusing. This symptom has been seen in people suffering from long covid, so researchers noted the disease and relationship between long covid.
Researchers at the famous Karolinska Institute in Sweden conducted a big study on it. He investigated 467 people suffering from long covid, who were not hospitalized during Kovid. It had 91 percent of the patients, who were moderate age and were completely healthy and active before Kovid.
‘Circulation: The study published in the magazine’ Arithmia and Electrophysiology ‘found that about one third of the people got the correct diagnosis of POTS, while about 27 percent had symptoms of POTS, but they did not live up to the criteria to investigate the disease. The remaining 42 percent people had no symptoms of the disease.
Research found that the patients who were suffering from POTS used to beat their hearts much faster during their heart. At the same time, the quality of his life had also reduced considerably, that is, he could not feel as good as before.
Dr. Mikel Byerson, who was involved in this study, said, “Even before this, some small studies suggested that there could be a relationship between Long Kovid and POTS. But now it has proved to be largely that it is a common problem. This information is very important for both doctors and patients, as it can make treatment easier. ”
Judith Bruchfeld, Associate Professor at the Carolinska Institute, said, “There is no need for expensive equipment to investigate the pots.” It can be identified with a very simple and cheap test, which are available in every hospital and clinic. Therefore, those patients with long covids whose heart beats up very fast while working, and those who have problems like dizziness, fatigue and not paying attention, should contact a doctor as soon as possible and get POTS checked.
