New Delhi, October 14 (IANS). Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday said on the occasion of World Standards Day 2025 that we must show our commitment to building a world where shared standards promote innovation, trust and sustainable growth for all.

According to the official information given by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Union Minister Joshi will preside over the program organized on World Standards Day. The event is being organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), a national standards organization under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. On this occasion, Minister of State B.L. Verma will also be present.
BIS will celebrate World Standards Day at different places across the country.
According to the information given by the ministry, this ceremony will be organized at the National Institute of Training for Standardization (NITS). During this time, the National Lighting Code of India 2025 will be released, as well as the Learning Management System (LMS) and Online Standards Development (OSD) module of the BIS Standards Portal will also be launched.
The theme of this year’s event will be ‘Shared Vision for a Better World: Standards for the Sustainable Development Goals’, which emphasizes the important role of international standards as a driver of cooperation and progress. These standards contribute significantly to enhancing coordination between governments, industries, academia and civil society in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
World Standards Day (WSD) honors these invisible systems and their developers who ensure quality, safety and sustainability. These include experts, scientists, engineers, policy makers and innovators. World Standards Day was first celebrated in 1970 to raise global awareness of the importance of standards in ensuring safety, quality and international trade.
