New Delhi, November 12 (IANS). India’s textiles and apparel exports, including handicrafts, recorded a strong performance in H1FY26, according to information provided by the Textiles Ministry on Wednesday.
India’s global exports of textiles, apparel and ready-made garments have registered a growth of 0.1 percent in the period from April to September 2025 as compared to the same period last year. This positive performance of India’s global textile and apparel exports has been recorded despite global headwinds and tariff related challenges.
According to the information given by the ministry, an increase was recorded in exports from India to different countries during this period.
Regarding export growth, the names of UAE with 14.5 percent, Britain with 1.5 percent, Germany with 2.9 percent, Spain with 9 percent and France with 9.2 percent were included.
On the other hand, other markets recording high growth rates included Egypt with 27 percent, Saudi Arabia with 12.5 percent and Hong Kong with 69 percent.
According to official information, 111 markets contributed USD 8,489.08 million during April-September 2025, compared to USD 7,718.55 million recorded last year, registering a growth of USD 770.3 million and 10 per cent.
In the information given by the Centre, it was said that in this growth in India’s textile and apparel exports, ready-made garments (RMG) were the major sectors with a growth of 3.42 percent and jute with a growth of 5.56 percent.
This export performance highlights the sector’s adaptability and competitiveness in the face of global uncertainties.
According to the Centre, India’s continued expansion into non-traditional markets reinforces the government’s policy focus on export diversification, value addition and global market integration under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
