Greater Noida, November 11 (IANS). Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority will now take the help of state-of-the-art technology to strictly monitor encroachment and unplanned construction. For this, the authority is going to develop an AI-based encroachment monitoring system in collaboration with the National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC) of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

This initiative is being taken for the first time by any development authority in the country. This is being considered a big step towards technology-based urban governance.

On the instructions of the authority’s Chief Executive Officer NG Ravi Kumar, the draft of the MoU is being prepared between the two institutions. The agreement will be signed soon and work will also start. The data of its first phase will be ready by December 2025, while the target has been set to develop and make the entire system operational by March 2026.

This system will be prepared by combining high resolution satellite images and Artificial Intelligence, which will make it possible to immediately identify any illegal occupation, construction or alteration taking place on the land. This will increase transparency, data-based decisions and speed of action in land management manifold. The authority will get GIS based imaging and alerts, so that information about the problem will reach the field officers in time and action can be taken quickly.

Under the MoU, NRSC will develop modules, dashboard, alert system and training. Besides, the employees of the authority will also be trained so that there is no problem in operation after the complete handover of the system.

Chief Executive Officer NG Ravi Kumar said, “The collaboration with ISRO will make land management more transparent, accurate and accountable. This project will lay the foundation for our future smart governance system.”

ACEO Sumit Yadav, who is leading the project, said that AI and satellite monitoring will increase the efficiency of encroachment prevention manifold and it is a historic step towards smart, data driven and pro-active governance. After its implementation, Greater Noida will not only achieve leadership status in the field of technology-based land management in the country, but will also prove to be a model for other development authorities and municipal bodies.
