Hyderabad, April 26 (IANS). Telangana Cyber Security Bureau conducted ‘Operation Crackdown 2.0’ across the state. Its purpose is to keep an eye on previously arrested cyber criminals and ensure that they do not indulge in crime or illegal activities again.

Telangana Cyber Security Bureau along with the police launched this special operation on Saturday. According to officials, a total of 3,567 cyber criminals were arrested in Telangana during 2024-25. Of these, 614 accused hailing from Telangana were selected. The names of these accused were linked to major economic cyber fraud cases and many other crimes, hence they were shortlisted for thorough investigation.

Telangana Cyber Security Bureau Director Shikha Goyal said that 335 people were verified. These accused are linked to 480 cases in Telangana and 1,233 cases across the country. Of these, 218 people have been traced. Some of the accused are still living at the same address, while some have moved to another place.

He said that 115 people have not been found yet and the search for them is going on. At the same time, 3 accused have died. During verification, it was also revealed that 30-year-old Prasad Kumar, an accused in the child sexual exploitation and abuse material case, is currently living in Nepal.

In this statewide operation, 300 teams of Telangana Cyber Security Bureau and law and order police simultaneously conducted investigations at multiple places. These teams collected information about the current addresses, work, current status and activities of the accused.

This is the first major surveillance operation by Telangana Police after arrests in cyber crime cases.

In this operation, the accused were identified and their detailed data was prepared for further analysis and monitoring. In cases where there are indications of repeat involvement in crime or suspicious activities, strict surveillance has been started. Under this, a suspect list has also been opened as per police rules.

Shikha Goyal said that this is the first time that the criminal information of such accused has been investigated together and shared with the concerned police stations. This will improve coordination between police stations and make monitoring more effective.
