New Delhi, May 15 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that the agreements signed between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will further strengthen the relations between the two countries. During his short visit to the Gulf country, India and UAE signed seven major agreements related to energy, defence, technology, infrastructure and investment.
Sharing his reaction on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi described the outcomes of the visit as ‘important’ and said that it will further strengthen India-UAE partnership in strategic areas.
The Prime Minister said, “These important agreements will further strengthen the India-UAE friendship.”
During the visit, India and UAE signed seven agreements aimed at promoting energy security, defense manufacturing, advanced computing, maritime infrastructure and investment.
One of the most important agreements was the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, which aims to strengthen India’s energy security and expand strategic petroleum reserves.
This partnership will also create new opportunities for cooperation in the areas of India’s LNG and LPG infrastructure.
The two countries also signed a strategic agreement for long-term LPG supply, aimed at strengthening India’s energy security amid rising global demand and market volatility.
In the defense sector, the two countries agreed to a framework for strategic defense partnership, with special focus on defense manufacturing, military training, maritime security, cyber security, innovation and secure communication systems.
Another important project is the proposed ship repair and marine infrastructure cluster at Vadinar, Gujarat. This will help in strengthening the ‘Make in India’ initiative and developing India’s maritime sector.
India and the UAE also signed an agreement on skill development in the ship repair sector, which will enhance the capabilities of India’s maritime workforce and help the country become a global hub in shipbuilding and repair.
In the technology sector, both countries agreed to set up eight exaflop supercomputer clusters in collaboration with India’s Center for Development of Advanced Computing and UAE’s G42 Company.
Additionally, the UAE also announced an investment of $5 billion in India’s infrastructure and financial institutions, which will further strengthen the economic ties between the two countries.
