New Delhi, December 9 (IANS). Amidst global fluctuations and instability, India’s performance has been very strong in the first half of the current financial year and during this period the country’s exports have been at an all-time high. This information was given by the government in Parliament on Tuesday.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasad said that in the first half (April-September period) of the financial year 2025-26, the country has exported $ 418.6 billion, which is more than $ 395.7 billion in the same period last year and this is the strongest export figure so far.

The ministry said that despite a slight decline in October 2025, India’s exports remain strong.

Exports that month were slightly lower due to a very high base in October 2024, which was the country’s best ever October export performance.

The minister said India’s export strategy is based on credibility, strength and active global engagement.

He said high-level visits and dialogues with partner countries continue to strengthen economic ties and yield long-term results, even if there are short-term ups and downs.

“India’s export ecosystem has benefited from structural reforms, improvements in logistics, expansion of port capacity and targeted export facilitation measures,” Prasad said.

He further said that the Production-Linked Incentive Scheme has helped in increasing the manufacturing capabilities of the country. However, service exports remain a strong pillar of the country’s external sector.

With regard to trade agreements, the Government informed Parliament that five major Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) have been signed in the last five years.

These include Mauritius, UAE, Australia, European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and India-UK trade agreement.
