A new competition for WhatsApp is emerging in India. This new platform is Arattai created by Zoho. This app was launched in 2021, but recently gained a lot of popularity. The reason for this is the support of the Government of India, its discussion on social media and its Made in India. The Google Play Store and Apple App Store have seen an increase of up to 100 times its number of users, which seems to challenge WhatsApp.
Difference between features of Arattai and Whatsapp
Both Whatsapp and Arattai provide text messages, photos and videos, sending voice notes and providing basic messaging facilities like voice and video calls. But Arattai has some features that make it different.
Arattai use free
Arattai is completely free. ZOHO has advertised and promised that user data will not be used for targeted advertisements. It will not show advertisements like meta.
Group chat option
Arattai also has a group chat option like Whatsapp. Users can create groups, which can add a maximum of 1,000 members. This limit in WhatsApp is 1,024.
Security
Talking about safety, WhatsApp uses every message, call and end-to-end encryption (E2E) on the file. Currently, in Arattai it is perfectly applicable only on voice and video calls. Zoho Text Message is working on encryption and promised to increase it in future.
However, Arattai takes a tough stand on its data privacy. It does not sell user data to advertisers or third parties. In addition, all data centers are in India, which makes it attractive to those who like local data security.
Which device works?
Arattai is available on both Android and iOS. It can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store and Apple App Store. In addition, it can also be used on Windows, Macos, Linux and Android TV. Users can simultaneously sync their account on a maximum of five devices.
