The Cyber Security Agency of the Government of India, CERT-IN, has issued a major warning for Android users. The agency has said that many dangerous flaws have been found in smartphones running on the latest version of Android. These flaws have been kept in the high security risk category, that is, if they are not corrected in time, hackers can easily use the smartphone misuse and the data of users may be in danger.
According to media reports, these problems are affecting Android 13, Android 14, Android 15 and Android 16 versions. The flaws are present not just in one part, but in many layers of the operating system. These include Framework, Runtime, System, Widewine DRM, Project Mainline, Karnell, Qualcomm, MediaTek and many components. Finding such a large number of weaknesses means that the danger has become more serious than ever.
CERT-in says that if hackers manage to take advantage of these weaknesses, they can crash the device, steal private data, run any kind of code or get control over the entire system. In simple words, your phone can be completely insecure.
Google has issued a security patch immediately to fix these problems, but every smartphone company has to roll out these updates through its software skin such as Samsung’s One UI, Xiaomi’s Hyperos and Oxygenos of OnePlus. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of the brands to deliver timely updates to the users.
The most important step for users is to install it immediately as soon as a new security updates come in your phone. By doing this your device will be safe and will avoid the attacks of cyber criminals. The government’s warning simply means that if the update is ignored, your smartphone and the private data present in it can be targeted by the hackers.
