New Delhi, April 30 (IANS). The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released a consultation paper on the regulatory framework for Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications. This information was given by the Ministry of Communications on Thursday.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, through a letter dated December 1, 2025, has requested TRAI to provide recommendations under Section 11(1)(a) of the TRAI Act 1997 (Amendment) on the regulatory framework for V2X, an official statement said.
In this regard, a consultation paper on regulatory framework for Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications has been made available on TRAI’s website. Written comments on the issues raised in the consultation paper have been invited from stakeholders by May 28, 2026 and counter-comments by June 11, 2026.

Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications is a wireless technology that enables vehicles to interact with other vehicles (V2V), infrastructure (V2I), pedestrians (V2P), and networks (V2N).
This technology improves road safety and traffic efficiency, as well as aids autonomous driving by sharing real-time data on location, speed and surroundings.
According to a recent report by Counterpoint Research, India has emerged as the fastest growing market for connected cars, registering an annual growth of 25 percent through 2024.
The reason for this rapidly increasing usage is due to domestic automobile manufacturers integrating connectivity features in all their vehicles.
The report predicts that by 2028, more than half of cars sold globally will have 5G connectivity, leading to wireless (V2X) communications, faster data transmission and autonomous driving capabilities.
