Indore, December 20 (IANS). Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Saturday said India has emerged as the fourth largest economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, up from the world’s tenth largest economy 12 years ago.

Speaking at the Young Entrepreneurs Forum Summit 2025 in Indore, the Union Communications Minister said India has overtaken Japan to become the fourth largest economy and by 2027, the country will overtake Germany to become the third largest economy.

The Minister further said that he is always energized by connecting with the passionate, fearless young entrepreneurs who are shaping the new India.

“At the Young Entrepreneurs Forum Summit 2025, I called upon all people with the D factor – dreamers, doers and change-makers to leverage the unprecedented startup ecosystem created by PM Narendra Modi to build bold enterprises and lasting legacies dedicated to nation building and public service,” Scindia wrote in a social media post.

He added, “The whole world is open to you… achieve it with the right intention.”

Earlier, market research firm Traxon had said in its report that India’s tech startups would raise $10.5 billion in 2025, putting the country at third position globally in terms of funding, overtaking China and Germany.

This achievement is notable despite a 17 percent decline from the $12.7 billion raised in 2024 and a 4 percent decline from the $11 billion raised in 2023.

According to the report, during this period India lagged behind only America and Britain. The tech ecosystem recorded 14 funding rounds of more than $100 million in 2025, compared to 19 rounds in 2024. The big deals were mainly driven by the transportation and logistics tech, environment tech and auto tech sectors, with companies raising large amounts of capital.

Additionally, early-stage funding in India’s tech sector increased to $3.9 billion, up 7 percent on a year-on-year basis. Late-stage funding fell 26 percent from 2024 levels to $5.5 billion, while seed-stage funding dropped to $1.1 billion.
