New Delhi, March 28 (IANS). Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Saturday invited nominations for the National Science Awards (RVP) 2026 to recognize outstanding contributions in the fields of science, technology and innovation.

Nominations can be submitted online through the government’s awards portal from March 28 to May 11.

According to Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, these awards are administered by the RVP Secretariat under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), which is headed by the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government.

The National Science Awards honor scientists, technologists and innovators whose work makes a significant contribution to India’s scientific progress and national development.

Nominations including self-nomination are open in various fields like Agricultural Sciences, Atomic Energy, Biology, Chemistry, Defense Technology, Geology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science, Medicine, Physics, Space Science and Technology and Innovation.

These awards will be presented in four categories – Vigyan Ratna for lifetime achievement, Vigyan Shri for distinguished contribution, Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar for young scientists up to the age of 45 years and Science Team for collaborative excellence involving three or more researchers.

Meanwhile, the Union Minister said that these awards reflect the government’s commitment to promote excellence and innovation in the scientific ecosystem.

He said, “The National Science Awards reflect the government’s commitment to promoting excellence in science, technology and innovation. These awards honor the spirit of curiosity and dedication of scientists and innovators who are contributing to India’s emergence as a global knowledge leader.”

He also urged institutions, industry bodies and individuals to actively participate in the nomination process to ensure comprehensive identification of scientific talent across the country.
