By now you must have heard that people have been considering AI chatbots as friends, partners or husband. But now AI means Artificial Intelligence has also replaced the minister. It looks a little strange to hear, but a small country named Albania has taken this unique step in the world. The government here has appointed a new minister, named ‘Diela’. The special thing is that Diela is not a human being, but a virtual bot made of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Its job is to handle government public procurement. This process has to reduce corruption and bribery.
What did the Prime Minister say about AI minister?
According to the report of Politico, Prime Minister Eddie Rama announced his new cabinet on Thursday. During this time he introduced Diela, whose name is a symbol of ‘Surya’ in K Albanian language. Rama said that Diela’s job is to manage government tenders and she will decide to give projects to private companies. The most important thing is that Diella is designed in such a way that she will not be affected by bribery, threats or any kind of bias. Rama claims that with the arrival of Diella, government tenders in Albania will be completely corruption free.
Albania struggling with corruption
Balkan country Albania has been struggling with the problem of corruption for a long time. Especially there are reports of irregularities and bribery in government tenders. Not only this, Drugs and weapons smuggling gangs are active in Albania, which validate their black earnings by infiltrating the government machinery. Due to this corruption, Albania is also facing difficulties in joining the European Union (EU). Prime Minister Rama aims to become part of the EU by 2030, but experts consider it extremely difficult. Diela has been made a minister to fulfill this dream.
Diella already exist
Diela Albania has no new face. Earlier this year, he was launched as a virtual assistant on the E-Albania platform. This platform helps Albanian citizens and businesses to get government documents. Diela appears in traditional albanian costumes and takes orders through voice.
What if it gets hacked?
The Albanian government has not clarified how much human monitoring will be on the decisions of Diella. It is also not mentioned that if someone tries to hack the AI bot or impress in an improper manner, how will she deal with that situation or postpone it. The more advanced technology is, the more risky.
